A small gesture like a little dessert at the end of the dinner can help a child in an emergency situation thanks to the international event Restaurant against Hunger, which for 5 years has involved the excellence of Italian gastronomy with the common goal of supporting children suffering from malnutrition in the world. For the second year, La Perla di Torino offers its Happiness Truffle, a limited edition that will be served at the price of 2 euros in the member restaurants and whose proceeds will be totally donated to charity.
The campaign is conceived by Action against Hunger, a leading association for 40 years in carrying out emergency interventions to safeguard levels of nutrition, hygene and quality of life in over 50 Countries around the world. In four years the initiative has involved over 600 restaurants and 500.000 customers, allowing them to raise around 350.000 euros and activate life-saving treatments for over 12.000 children. It is no coincidence that the Happiness Truffle costs 2 euros, just enough to provide a day of medical care and therapeutic food to a malnourished child.
The campaign will be active from October 16, the Internationd Food Day, until December 31 with the partecipation of hundreds of restaurants across Italy, including those of chefs like Enrico Crippa, Felix Lo Basso and Elio Sironi, with the aim to combine the pleasure of eating with that of giving something to those who cannot feed themselves properly.
